Meet Clara – Head of Equine Welfare Education
Leads hands-on education and coaching in horse care and welfare, teaching young people safe, respectful and knowledgeable ways to work with horses.
Clara is the Head of Equine Welfare Education at Tutsham Academy, leading hands-on education and coaching in horse care and welfare. She teaches young people safe, respectful, and knowledgeable ways to work with horses, helping them develop confidence, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of equine behaviour and wellbeing.
Clara is a BHS Stage 2 qualified instructor and was recognised for her dedication to equestrian education and coaching when she received the Association of British Riding Schools Coach of the Year 2026 Special Recognition Award. Her commitment to supporting both young people and horses reflects the values at the heart of Tutsham Academy.
Her lifelong passion for horses began at the age of four, when she first sat in the saddle, and it has continued to grow ever since. Over the years, Clara has trained with and ridden a wide variety of horses, from dressage stars and show jumpers to fearless hunters. While she has experience across many disciplines, her true passion lies in dressage, and she is currently working towards competing at higher levels with her very own dressage diva.
Clara’s dedication extends far beyond her own riding goals. She finds immense joy in working with children and horses, believing deeply in the transformative power of the equine connection. She loves witnessing the growth, confidence, and resilience that horses can inspire in young people.
Known as a self-proclaimed “professional pony hugger”, Clara brings warmth, enthusiasm, and expertise to every session. Being part of a young person’s journey of growth and discovery is not just a job for Clara — “it’s a privilege.”
