What we offer:
Our programmes are about much more than horse care – it’s a holistic approach to personal and professional development. We provide:
- Practical Skills: Hands-on experience with horse care, farm animal care, land-based tasks (including tractor work), and horse riding.
- Social Development: Opportunities to build teamwork and communication skills.
- Career Support: Guidance on applying for college or jobs, CV writing, and interview preparation.
- Workplace Connections: Partnerships with local businesses to provide work experience and employment opportunities.
- Accredited Short Courses: The chance to earn ASDAN short course certificates to enhance their future prospects.
- Association of British Riding Schools Awards: Quick recognition for achievements with the Rosette Awards helps boost self esteem & feelings of accomplishments.
Our sessions are designed to be 1:1 or in a small groups of no more than four participants, ensuring individualised attention. Each young person follows a bespoke program, created after a joint discussion about their needs, goals, and ambitions. We measure progress termly against clear objectives, ensuring every step brings them closer to their potential.
Animal Care Short Course
The Animal Care Short Course can accredit between 10 and 60 hours of learners’ activities and involvement in caring for all types of animals. This could range from looking after domestic pets at home, to working with farm animals and wildlife in the community, to finding out about more exotic species at zoos and wildlife centres.
Our students will spend time with our horses, pigs, goats, sheep, pigs and chickens whilst working on this course.
This course is for children age 13 years and above.
Environmental Short Course
The Environmental Short Course has been developed in partnership with The Wildlife Trusts and accredits up to 60 hours of involvement in various environmental activities and projects.
Our students will some spend time working in our 5 acre ancient woodland whilst working on this course.
This course is for children age 13 years and above.

Progressive Rider Tests
There are two types of tests:
Introductory Tests (A-E): The Introductory Tests cover both Stable Management and Equitation and are aimed at young or nervous riders covering basic riding and handling skills.
Progressive Tests (1 – 10): The Progressive Tests also cover Stables Management and Equitation and are aimed at improving riders covering basic riding and handling skills, moving on to more developed practical skills and advanced riding movements.
Equestrian Care Award – Additional League Table
Equestrian Care Awards are logbook-based and are designed to encourage helpers to develop increasing competence in assisting before, during and after lessons and a growing awareness of Health and Safety around the yard.
The logbooks are tested in-house by riding school staff and each element is ticked off when complete; there is no time limit to complete the logbook.
On completion, each logbook is sent to the ABRS + Head Office and you will be sent a certificate of achievement.
It is recommended that each level has a minimum age:
- Entry minimum age 10
- Intermediate minimum age 12
- Senior minimum age 14
Groom and Senior Groom Apprenticeship
