Meet Sharon – Occupational Therapist and Equine Assisted Therapist with a special interest in Hippotherapy

Sharon is an Occupational Therapist, specialising in neuro and paediatrics with extensive experience in both the public and private sectors.

She graduated with honours from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy. Sharon is registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).

Sharon’s career spans a diverse range of settings, including major trauma units, neuro-rehabilitation centres, and paediatric therapy services. She has significant experience working with adults, teens, and young children in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Her expertise encompasses major trauma, traumatic brain injuries, neurosurgical procedures, neuro-oncology, spinal cord injuries, and orthopaedic injuries.

Her own horse played a transformative role in her journey, igniting a deep passion for the powerful way Occupational Therapy and equine partnership can work together to restore confidence, bring calm, positive moments, movement, and independence.

She is a true believer of every person should be able to access enjoyable and meaningful occupations.

Sharon has also completed her hippotherapy training, through the Equine Assisted Therapy Association of South Africa.
