A truly special experience was made possible for eight young people from our academy, as they travelled to Newmarket – the home of horse racing – for an unforgettable day at the British Racing School. The visit was made possible through our valued collaboration with the Riding A Dream Academy, creating a unique opportunity for our young people to engage with the equestrian industry in a meaningful and inspiring way.
The day was far more than a simple trip. It offered a valuable insight into potential career pathways within horseracing and the wider equestrian sector, while allowing the group to step into a professional training environment and begin to imagine what their own futures might hold.
A highlight of the visit was learning about Khadijah Mellah and her remarkable journey to success, despite the challenges she faced. Her story provided powerful inspiration and encouraged our young people to reflect on their own potential.
Throughout the day, the group toured the facilities, experienced riding on the equicisor, and spent time handling and riding ponies. Each activity helped to build confidence, develop new skills, and create a sense of achievement.
It was a long but rewarding day, beginning with a 6am departure from the farm and concluding with a return at 6pm. Despite the early start and full schedule, every young person came back tired but energised, speaking enthusiastically about their experiences.
We are incredibly proud of them all. This visit represented much more than an educational outing – it was an opportunity to develop independence, meet new people, step outside of comfort zones, and gain a deeper understanding of what they are capable of achieving.
Experiences like this play a vital role in broadening horizons and raising aspirations, and we look forward to building on this success in the future.
