Earlier this week, Jo visited the headquarters of British Equestrian to present the outcomes of the Future Schools Project alongside George Baber from ABRS+ and Lisa Ashton of Equicoach.Life.
George provided an overview of the project, while Lisa shared the scientific evidence that underpinned the programme and highlighted the measurable outcomes it has achieved. Jo discussed how the project was implemented in practice, including the importance—and challenges—of ensuring everyone working with the horses applied a consistent, evidence-based approach to training and handling.
The presentation demonstrated how a science-led, consistent approach can have a significant positive impact on the welfare and lived experiences of the horses involved in the project.
The visit also sparked encouraging discussions about the future of the initiative, with plans for Phase 2 already being explored. Building on the success of the first phase, the next stage aims to extend the project’s reach, creating a wider positive impact for both horses and the people who care for them.
